The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) will host the South Africa- Côte d’Ivoire Trade and Investment Business Forum. The objective of the forum is to provide South African and Ivorian companies with a strategic platform to engage on bilateral trade and investment opportunities in both markets, while simultaneously affording them access to senior decision-makers and stakeholders.

The business forum will largely focus on promoting and facilitating economic exchanges in the following key sectors: agro-processing, including cotton, cocoa and natural rubber value chains; automotives; oil and gas; as well as information, communications and information communications technology.
The forum is in line with actions initiated by the two governments to promote private sector development in their countries, in view of making massive investments capable of accelerating the structural transformation of their economies towards strong and sustainable growth.
Bilateral relations
South Africa’s main exports to Côte d’Ivoire between 2016 and 2020 consisted of value added products such as machinery, vehicles, base metals, plastics and vegetable products whilst imports from Côte d’Ivoire were dominated also by value added goods such as plastics, prepared foodstuffs, wood and articles of wood and vegetable products.
