Eric Kaila, an Initiate Initiatives Coach, is also known as a heavyweight Speaking Trainer and Coach. His journey from poverty to empowerment is a story of resilience, determination, and the transformative power of initiating initiatives. Born in the mining town of Postmasburg during Apartheid, Eric grew up with 18 siblings in an environment where poverty was the norm.
Despite his town’s current prosperity, Eric’s youth was marked by hardship, joblessness, and all sorts of struggles. Driven by a desire to change his circumstances, he moved to larger cities like Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, and Pretoria. There, he encountered the harsh reality of urban poverty, taking on various menial jobs to survive. The English language barrier, lack of higher education, and the absence of qualifications made his journey even more challenging.
Eric found some stability through entry-level positions at the City Council of Pretoria, Foreign Affairs, Pan African Parliament, and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation. However, these roles did not fulfill his aspirations of eradicating poverty within his family. It was then that an epiphany struck him: true emancipation lies in initiating initiatives that transcend personal growth and uplift families, communities, cities, and Africa as a whole.
Embracing this realization, Eric sought to improve his English speaking communication skills through Toastmasters International. He became a skilled orator and a six-time Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM6). His public speaking prowess led him to become a trained diplomat for the South African Government and a serial business owner.
Eric’s journey was not just about personal success but about lifting others out of the same poverty he experienced. His love for his community and the pain of his past drove him to help others find their voices and power. He offers free Public Speaking Boot-Camps for beginners, teens, and executives, designed to help individuals unleash their public speaking abilities and achieve personal and professional success. These boot camps are more than just training sessions; they are platforms for empowerment, where participants gain confidence, learn to articulate their ideas, inspire others, and initiate initiatives.
Recognizing the importance of accessibility, Eric embarks on city-to-city tours across South Africa, Africa, and Asia, including countries like Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. These tours allow him to bring his expertise directly to communities, providing free training and inspiring individuals to initiate their own initiatives and take on leadership roles. His sessions are tailored to meet the needs of different audiences, from youths discovering their potential to executives honing their leadership skills.
Eric’s commitment to empowerment is evident in the public speaking clubs and leadership programs he has established globally. From Malawi to Indonesia, his initiatives have created networks of empowered individuals dedicated to continuous learning and improvement. These clubs serve as incubators for new ideas, where members support each other, share experiences, and grow together. Eric’s impact is profound; his free Boot-Camps have helped countless individuals find their voice and advocate for change.

One such story is of a young lady from Tanzania by the name of Imelda who, after attending Eric’s free boot camp, went on to initiate volunteering in her community until she was spotted by the Government Minister and hired as a speechwriter for the minister. She also still provides educational resources to the underprivileged while employed. Another is of executives in Tanzania who transformed through becoming members of a learning institute named Dar Toastmasters Club, established and sponsored by Eric Kaila DTM6. Their lives changed, and their English keeps improving by the day. This increased their communication culture and productivity. Other such stories of institutes started by Eric are found in South Africa, Pretoria, Woodmead, Johannesburg, Queenstown, and many more places.
