We are delighted to announce that Mrs Ron Osman Omar, the Acting, Head of Industry, Innovation and Minerals Division of the African Union Commission will be speaking at the AEZO 7th Annual Meeting and the AU 5th Symposium on SEZs during the conference session entitled “Economic resilience, Green growth and Industrial transformation: New paths to African SEZ prosperity”, scheduled on December 1st, 2022 at 10:45 (Abuja time).
Mrs. Ron Osman Omar advocates Africa’s industrial development to enable trade. Focal point for the accelerated industrial development for Africa, she translates vision into plans and plans into actions in coordination with RECs, member state and private sector. Before joining AUC department of Trade and Industry, Ron Osman Omar held various senior positions within Djibouti’s Ministry of Trade and Industry reaching most senior civil servant position as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Trade, SMEs, Handcraft, Tourism and formalization. Prior to this she held executive position like Director of Industry in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Chairperson of Djibouti Telecom’s Board director. As former director of industry within Djibouti’s ministry of trade and Industry Ron Osman supervised the Djibouti’s Industrial Development Forum and coordinated public and private investment in the manufacturing sector.
This conference session will highlight the role of SEZs in accelerating industrial transformation, contributing to economic resilience, and fostering green growth policy reforms. It will also provide quidance on the Impact of circular economies, global trade and supply chains; the value creation in SEZs on; building stakeholders resilience, economic corridors and industrial upgrading; the role of African SEZs in facilitating regional integration through AfCFTA..
