Preceding the SALA Awards ceremony was the 10th Africa Century International African Writers Conference (ACIAWC), under the theme: Indigenous Knowledge and Decoloniality: The Role of Education, Arts, Culture, Heritage and Recreation in Rebuilding Resilience Post-Trauma and Into The Future.

Dr Nokugcina Mhlophe, actress, storyteller, poet, playwright, director and author., delivered the 10th International African Writers Day Lecture, and the respondents were Ms Jane Mufamadi, Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Park Museum and Heritage Site and former Consul-General Saul Molobi, brand architect, author, editor, publisher and entrepreneur.

Going forward, we are delighted to announce that the South African Literary Awards’s Call for Submissions 2023 will be announced on 30thNovember 2022, thereby giving all the writers, their peers, publishers, nominators and all ample time to submit their work for adjudication.
